    With The Lights Out, as far as someone who has all of Nirvana's "official" releases and CD singles (i.e. me) is concerned, is essential Nirvana. It's true that there are a lot of versions of classic Nirvana greatness that aren't as good the album versions, but that's not the intent of With The Lights Out.
